The opening hole at Rio Vista is the start of a tough 3 hole stretch.
Your tee shot is relatively open and slightly blind as you can't see the landing area.
Out of bounds left and fescue mounding to the right will keep you honest on your first shot of the day.
Usually playing into the prevailing wind, big hitters may take a chance to go for this green in two.
The safe play is to lay up either on top of the hill at the 150 yard marker or you may layup closer to the creek down the hill at the 100 yard marker.
Your approach to the elevated green must clear the creek and stay below the hole as this green slopes extremely from back to front.
Two bunkers guard the green left and right.
